Quantity Surveyor

Our Company

Mascott are an ever evolving & growing company who have developed an impressive portfolio of works over the past 4 decades. Our dedicated team specialise in Design & Build, Fit-out & Refurbishment projects across sectors such as Commercial, Retail, Healthcare & Heritage across the UK & Ireland.

Due to our continued growth and restructuring of the company, we are delighted to be expanding our team further with the addition of an experienced Quantity Surveyor.

Reporting to the Commercial Manager and working closely with the Operational Team you will be responsible the delivery and management of a variety of projects as well as providing regular updates on the performance of on-going projects.

Your day-to-day role;

  • Monthly sub-contractor payment certification, agreement of variations / final accounts.
  • Assessing contractor applications, along with any changes, making recommendations, raising payment certificates and preparing general correspondence to sub-contracts.
  • Ensuring required Payment / Pay-less notices are issued.
  • Preparing, submitting, and agreeing Interim Valuations
  • Prepare monthly Cost Value Reconciliation reports
  • Attend monthly project reviews with the Director
  • Work closely with Contracts Management and Procurement teams
  • Attend Client progress meetings
  • Assist with preparation of Extension of Time and Loss & Expense Submissions
  • Establish, maintain and enhance effective working relationships
  • Submission & Negotiation of Final Accounts
  • Identify, notify and value change
  • Prepare Value Management Reports

Requirements

  • Degree educated in Quantity Surveying & Commercial Management.
  • 3- 5 years’ pre & post contract experience working with a main contractor.
  • Strong commercial attitude, negotiation skills and excellent communication are essential, as you will be dealing with sub-contractors and clients on a daily basis.
  • Motivated, driven and works well within team

Estimator

Our Company

Your day-to-day role;

  • Manage the tender from receipt, through to submission and post tender queries.
  • Analysing plans/ bill of quantities and other project documentation to estimate costs
  • Researching, sourcing and negotiating best quotes from subcontractors /suppliers.
  • Assessing financial /technical/operational risks of project
  • Liaising with key members of the project team and liaising with clients and subcontractors
  • Prepare take offs and undertake estimates and final account settlements.
  • Review supply chain performance quarterly
  • Mark up enquiries to be sent out to the supply chain, organise bills of quantities production and obtain material quotes where necessary
  • Evaluate returned quotations from supply chain and liaise with supply chain member to bring quotations in line with the project specification requirements
  • Liaise with and manage the internal and external tender team

Requirements

  • 5+ years’ experience in similar role
  • Motivated, driven and works well within team
  • Strong contract management ability and understanding
  • Strong negotiation skills with excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office

Site Manager

Site Manager

Your role will involve the day to day management on site for Social Housing Refurbishment Projects.  You will liaise closely with colleagues and sub-contractors to deliver a high quality finish within programme.  You will carry out joint inspections with the client to ensure standards are met and specifications are adhered to.

Main Responsibilities:

  • To liaise with staff, contractors and all other stakeholders to deliver a high-quality service during works.
  • Manage sub-contractors on a daily basis.
  • Manage Health and Safety on site.
  • Produce take offs for orders on a weekly basis and liaise with suppliers to ensure these are met.
  • Liaise with customers to ensure they are well informed of works and timelines within their property.
  • Deal with customer complaints in a timely manner.
  • Work with the client and the project team on the programme for scheduled works to be carried out.
  • Ensure all agreed documentation is provided as part of handover packages per property.
  • Handle personal data in line with data protection regulations.
  • To ensure all customer queries are responded to in a timely manner and that interactions are recorded and actioned effectively and seek to resolve any disputes that may arise during the planned works.
  • General duties including compiling information and maintaining accurate records. Contribute to efficient project delivery of the planned works and improvement scheme.

 

Essential Criteria:

  • A Degree in Construction or similar trade qualification.
  • A minimum of 5 years proven experience with a Main Contractor. Preferably including Social Housing Experience.
  • Strong awareness of Health and Safety
  • Innovative, creative, and proactive with a solution-oriented approach
  • Full clean driving license
  • Motivated and driven personality who has a collaborative approach to work.
  • Good levels of ICT skills and literacy across Microsoft Office.
